Clinical course of untreated cerebral cavernous malformations: individual patient data meta-analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Method From a systematic review, we identified three prospective or retrospective hospital-based cohorts (Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN; Toronto Western Hospital, Toronto; and Hôpital Lariboisière, Paris) and one prospective population-based cohort (Scotland) that could provide detailed data regarding clinical outcome between diagnosis and CCM treatment or last follow-up in adults with CCM. We will describe baseline characteristics and use survival analysis to calculate the risks of outcomes at specific times and identify their predictors using adjusted hazard ratios. We will pool the estimates from each study in meta-analyses using random-effects models, and quantify and investigate any heterogeneity between studies.

Clinical course of untreated cerebral cavernous malformations: a meta-analysis of individual patient data
BACKGROUND Cerebral cavernous malformations (CCMs) can cause symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage (ICH), but the estimated risks are imprecise and predictors remain uncertain. We aimed to obtain precise estimates and predictors of the risk of ICH during untreated follow-up in an individual patient data meta-analysis. METHODS We invited investigators of published cohorts of people aged at leas...
متن کاملQuantitative Susceptibility Mapping in Cerebral Cavernous Malformations: Clinical Correlations.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Quantitative susceptibility mapping has been shown to assess iron content in cerebral cavernous malformations. In this study, our aim was to correlate lesional iron deposition assessed by quantitative susceptibility mapping with clinical and disease features in patients with cerebral cavernous malformations. MATERIALS AND METHODS Patients underwent routine clinical scan...
متن کاملCerebral cavernous malformations: serial magnetic resonance imaging findings in patients with and without gamma knife surgery.
To classify the cerebral cavernous malformations and to investigate the natural history of cavernous malformations according to the classification, 41 patients with 61 cavernous malformations (40 cavernous malformations from 22 patients treated with gamma knife surgery) were regularly followed up using magnetic resonance (MR) imaging for a mean period of 25.5 months in treated cavernous malform...
متن کاملManagement of Cerebral Cavernous Malformations: From Diagnosis to Treatment
Cerebral cavernous malformations are the most common vascular malformations and can be found in many locations in the brain. If left untreated, cavernomas may lead to intracerebral hemorrhage, seizures, focal neurological deficits, or headaches. As they are angiographically occult, their diagnosis relies on various MR imaging techniques, which detect different characteristics of the lesions as ...
متن کاملVarying clinical presentations of familial cerebral cavernous malformations (CCMs) and spinal cord cavernous malformations (SCCMs)
We present a family afflicted by both extensive cerebral cavernous malformations (CCMs) and spinal cord cavernous malformations (SCCMs). These may be inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern or occur sporadically. The presentation varies and may include a multitude of clinical symptoms separated in time and space. Cavernous malformations should be considered in the differential diagnosis of s...
